Why a New Sign?
Hebron Presbyterian is so much more than a church. It is living history and spirituality in action in God’s world. For over 250 years, it has been the “church in the woods,” nestled among the trees in an out-of-the-way corner of north Georgia. For many, like myself, it has been one of those things that anchor our existence. Although I rarely made the trek up from west Atlanta, I always knew it would be there, and drew comfort from that.
As Bob Dylan sang, however, “the times they are a changin’.” The area is developing and new families are finding their way to this corner of the world. This, in my opinion, puts us in urgent need of a new church sign. As you may be aware, the current signs, having served us well in the past, are inadequate for the present. The church, set back in the woods as it is, does not present an imposing structure to those passing by on the increasingly traveled road, and the present sign is difficult to see, particularly if one is unfamiliar with the location. As a result, our signage no longer represents the quality and welcoming atmosphere that our church aims to convey.
The need for a new church sign is crucial in ensuring that we are able to reach out to more people in the community and continue to make a positive impact on their lives. The new sign will not only be a vital tool for providing information about our church, but it will also serve as a beacon of hope, encouraging people to join us and experience the love and acceptance that we offer. We believe the sign should be of the monument style, rooted in the earth as is the church.
However, the cost of the new sign is beyond our current budget, and we are seeking donations from individuals and organizations that share our values and mission. We believe that our church’s mission of reaching out to the community is important, and we hope that you will join us in supporting this initiative.
Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will help us achieve our goal of raising enough funds to install a new church sign. We would be grateful for any donation you can provide, and we assure you that every dollar will be put to good use. We are open to suggestions as to style and wording, and would love to hear your ideas.
